ACM Records Update
This is Ali Always Radio with ACM Records. You have to check out Trio Caliente because Baila Me is #9 on the New Jersey record pools and is doing just as well in Chicago. The rest of you are missing out on hot stuff so go listen to them now! If you like what you hear then you will love their Club version of Baila Me which is due to be released in the next couple of weeks. Also I'm aware that alot of you like Steve Johnson, so what I think is if you are in the New Jersey area go see him perfrom on Tuesdays at Mexacali Blues in Teaneck. I know I will be there.
Don't forget these artists: Global Warning, Liana, DJ Lantan, and Brian McKeever because I'm still thrilled about them. Like always...if for any reason these artists just don't work in your playlists and charts let me know because I always love hearing from you. Please email:radio@acmrecords.com.
Shows Going On at R5 Productions *THIS* Tuesday June 24th 9:00pm

HARVEY MILK / STORM OF LIGHT / GODS & QUEENS / MEGA MEGA
Holy hell—Harvey Milk's back and on Hydra Head! To understand what that means, here's what we thought about Relapse's last two reissues from these Southern, not-so-gentle men …
Often called Georgia's answer to the Melvins, Harvey Milk were the very antithesis of the Athens scene they were unfortunately swept up in. (Imagining them on the same bill as R.E.M. these days isn't funny so much as frightening.) Especially in the case of their staggeringly slow, incredibly creepy debut, My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment of What My Love Could Be, originally released in 1996 on the small North Carolina label Yesha. While its title may read like the wall art ramblings of a straitjacketed emo kid in solitary confinement, the record itself is more tormented and knife-turning than half of your kvlt-as-fuck black metal collection. Basically, think of how unnerving Sunn O))) can be from time to time and switch the overall vibe from pure, self-conscious evil to complete insanity. Nothing makes sense on this album, from Paul Trudeau’s lumbering, gut-punch percussion patterns to Creston Spiers’ unpredictable (and seemingly nonsensical) use of wrecking ball
riffs, mealy-mouthed shouting and staggered white space. And that’s not even counting the fluttering string section and big budget movie score break of “The Anvil Will Fall.”
Which leads us to the complete 180 that was Harvey Milk’s swan song. First released on a limited double LP format through Reproductive Records in 1998, The Pleaser takes the completely un-ironic “ZZ Top is the best” liner note of Harvey Milk’s previous album (1997’s Courtesy and Good Will Toward Men) to literal highs and lows depending on the leanings of your record collection. If My Love represents a nearly suicidal Spiers, The Pleaser is a snapshot of the singer after a year of extensive outpatient treatment and prescription cocktails. In other words, it’s the sound of Harvey Milk finally curing themselves of ADD and getting their rock on.
Now, 10 years later, Harvey Milk sounds like they've found a compromise between whiskey-swilling RAWK and slo-mo sludge. Take "Death Goes to the Winner," the 8-minute opener of Life … The Best Game In Town. While it starts off soft and tense, the track quickly explodes into a lumbering noise-rock session. Considering all the left-turns on here and the utter "WTF?"-ness of Harvey Milk's entire catalogue, we're not sure what to expect at the band's rare Philly show other than sheer madness.
